What do you get when you merge Musical Theatre and Improv Comedy? Musical Improv! Also, one of the most entertaining performing arts out there! Players hop on stage, accompanied by a piano player, who together improvise scenes and songs based on the audience’s suggestions. The results are exciting, hilarious, jaw dropping… The crowd has the best time watching the newest, never seen before, musical comedy show on opening night… that will never be seen again.
Adina started doing musical improv before she even knew it was a thing that other people did! She merged her love for live performance, music, improv, and comedy and started putting on sold-out shows. Since then, she learned that Musical Improv is officially an art form that is very popular in New York City and Chicago; she went off to study and perform with the best while she lived there. Since then, she has returned to Montreal, and continued to perform regularly bringing everything she’s learned with everything she already knew. She loves it so much that she began a Musical Improv Montreal program and teaches adults how to access it themselves. To continue her professional development as a performer and teacher, she studies on line, or in person, most recently at the iO in Chicago, and at Magnet Theatre in NYC. Most. Fun. Ever!

Established in 2011, Way The Hell Off-Broadway is Montreal’s longest running English musical improv troupe! The players invent a series of short scenes and songs based on the audience’s suggestions and then perform an improvised mini-musical that will leave the crowd wanting more.

The Jazz Ands are an all female musical improv power troupe who typically perform a one-hour improvised musical based on the audience’s suggestion. They frequently spice up the show, performing their musical within a more specific genre such as Film Noir, Western, Soap Opera, you name it. They also love improvising “Your Life, The Musical,” where they invent an entire piece based on an audience’s member’s life.
A band of tuneful treble makers improvise a pitch perfect plot.
Lalala & Order: Musical Improv Unit debuted at the world renowned comedy centre, Chicago’s Second City. The ensemble creates a new, full length musical mystery based on suggestions from the audience. Detectives investigate the case and discover catchy clues, with singing suspects, melodic motives, and the trebling offence. Will the felon fight in falsetto? Will the prosecutors strike a major chord with the jury? Will the dramatic resolution be a frame-up or will justice be served in symphony? Stay in suspense until their next episode!
